RECIPROCAL ARRANGEMENTS
FOR HOLDERS OF
BRIDGEWATER CANAL LICENCES [/center] Pleasure craft displaying a valid Bridgewater Canal licence can travel as far as the undermentioned points for periods of up to seven days free of charge.
[/color][/size] LEEDS AND LIVERPOOL CANAL
Leigh Branch to Wigan, also from Wigan to the bottom of Blackburn Locks and from Wigan to Burscough. TRENT AND MERSEY CANAL
Preston Brook to Harecastle Tunnel. SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL
Middlewich Branch from Middlewich to Barbridge Junction. Pleasure craft found using British Waterway’s canal system without a valid licence beyond the above points or remaining for periods in excess of seven days will be charged double the advanced short term fee.THE LIVERPOOL LINK The reciprocal limit has for a temporary period been extended to include the section of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Burscough and Liverpool with effect from the 1st January 2009 until 31st December 2013. An additional 7 days to cruise “the Liverpool Link” has been granted by British Waterways to craft holding a valid licence for the Bridgewater Canal wishing to cruise this section of canal. Moorings are limited and all craft wishing to use the Liverpool link must contact British Waterways to obtain the necessary booking form and skippers guide telephone 01942 405700
The Liverpool link is due to open in early 2009 and will be available to pleasure craft following its official opening.
