Hi Folks, first post might as well go here, I am looking to buy a 23 - 35 ft Norman Cabin Cruiser later this evening, the only thing I ever owned on a canal before was a rod!
So been finding out as much as possible yesterday, mike from peel holdings is on holiday till monday, his secretary is new and does not know the prices of anything.
a friend of my wife's just said they are in the BMBC and they have a 27ft boat, and only pay £100 mooring fees for it, and I was quoted £400+ by peel holdings
So what I need to know are the following please....
1. What is the cheapest way to get myself a mooring pref in Runcorn or Lymm and what would it cost ?
"Cheap" and "Moorings" are two words that don't usually appear in the same sentence. Expect to pay around £600 to £1000 for the size of boat you have in mind.2. What company is cheapest for 3 party insurance ?
There are lots of marine insurance brokers. Pricewise there probably isn't a lot of difference between them. Make sure they provide salvage and 3rd party cover, as required by the Bridgewater Canal Co. Mike Webbs office can give you the details about what is required in the policy. Expect to pay +/- £100 - £200 p.a.3. What should I expect to pay for a leisure Licence for 12 months ?
Approx £500 upwards. 4. What else do I need to know or buy that I have not mentioned in the above 3 questions ?
You need very deep pockets. Thanks.
P.S I am a self employed electrician and you will get to know me, so if you need anything just let me know.
