The decision to "mutualise" the canal systems in England and Wales was announced at the budget yesterday.

Exactly how this is going to work hasn't been decided yet, but I have a nasty feeling that we might start seeing rises in licensing fees shortly to cover the expenses.
Looking on the bright side, if this is done properly then it could bring about a lot of beneficial changes for us - except on the Bridgewater, of course!
